Guide · DPS meter
What is an AION 2 DPS meter?
A DPS meter (also called a damage meter or parser) shows who did how much damage in a fight. Riftline is a free AION 2 DPS meter for Windows; this page explains, honestly, what it measures and how.
DPS on a report
How Riftline measures
- 01
Reads on your PC
Riftline reads the game’s network traffic on your own PC through the free Npcap driver. It never changes a game file.
- 02
Logs the fight
Damage, healing, boss health and deaths go into an event log and onto the live meter. By default it counts boss fights only.
- 03
Uploads only if you ask
Nothing leaves your PC until you turn on Riftline Online. An uploaded kill gets a private link you can delete any time.
- 04
The server recomputes
The server doesn’t trust the meter’s totals: it rebuilds every number from the event log and only ranks kills that pass its checks.
Words on a report
- DPS
- Damage per second: a player’s damage ÷ the fight time.
- Party DPS
- The whole party’s damage ÷ the fight time.
- Kill time
- From the start of the fight to the boss’s death.
- Share
- The part of the party’s damage that player dealt.
- Back, perfect, double
- The share of hits that landed with that result.
- CP band
- Combat power grouped so players are compared at similar power: 25K steps on the DPS board, 10K for class figures.
What Riftline can’t see
- In the open world the game only sends some of other players’ hits. The meter then says open-world totals may be incomplete.
- The meter only knows what reaches your PC. When several party members upload the same kill, the server checks them against each other.
- Rankings show only kills the uploader chose to list and the server verified. Names appear only for verified characters with “show my name” on.
Questions
Is there a free AION 2 DPS meter?
Yes. Riftline is free and has no ads. It runs on Windows 10 and 11 and needs the free Npcap driver.
Is Riftline an AION 2 combat log parser?
Riftline doesn’t rely on a game log file. It keeps its own event log while the fight happens and computes the meter and the report from that log.
Does Riftline change game files?
No. Riftline only reads network traffic on your PC; it never touches the game’s files.
Are my fights public?
No. Nothing is uploaded until you turn on Riftline Online. Uploaded kills are private links, and only kills you choose to list appear in rankings.
How is DPS calculated on a report?
A player’s damage divided by the fight time, from the start of the fight to the kill. Party DPS is the party’s total damage over the same time.
Where are AION 2 class DPS rankings?
On each boss’s rankings page, under the Classes tab, by combat power band. Each player counts once per boss, at their best.
